A small update… finally.

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

Yes, it’s been a long while since our last posted here… We thought March was busy - yet, April went even further. Pretty much both of us are ready for a vacation - not that we’ll get one any time this year, but at least I can mention it. Petra’s high pace internship and studies are leaving a mark on her in the face of an almost permanent tiredness. With me it’s more of an anxiety issue - I’m way too eager to do the things I don’t really have the time for: take lots of , read some books, scan the nearby parks and outing areas… And as you can guess that ticks off my sleeping schedule quite often.

But - there’s only a little left till the summer begins and we head for Bulgaria. Not that it will be very peaceful and restful, but at least we hope that the change of environment will energize us a bit… besides the excessive Bulgarian heat, perhaps. :) This also means that Petra has only a few more weeks of busyness, which is good. For me, this summer will probably mean working at a slower speed for a few weeks and taking more instead. We’ll see how all this will work out. (more…)

Yay! One of my photos used on-line!

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

This an exciting thing - for the first time I was contacted by a person who bought one of my from Dreamstime to let me know where it’s going to be used. What’s even more exciting is that it’s being used as an Easter Greeting Card. You can find the wonderful Rila Monastery icons on this address: http://anunslife.org/2008/03/21/blessed-easter/

Out of over 730 sales this is the first one to know the use of… I hope that sale 1460 comes soon, so I can get one more message like that. Ha ha…

Just so excited… couldn’t help bu let you know. Have a wonderful day!

Petar

Petarneychev.com - My Photography Portfolio

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Ok, the bug was in my head for a while and now my on-line photo portfolio is a reality. You can visit it at petarneychev.com. Feedback is welcome - by posting a comment to this blog article, through the contact form at petarneychev.com, or simply by writing me an e-mail.

I figured that since I’ve spent so much resources and time into learning how to take better and sell some, I might as well promote them too. I’m considering to be something more and more serious. By now it’s gotten a bit beyond what I’d call a hobby (not even counting my job as an editor) . It’s actually been a while since I’ve been so excited about doing something for a long-term. I remember that computers used to keep me awake at night but that’s now looong gone. As I think about it, nothing really substituted that… until now. So I’m a happy lad. Oh, and don’t get me wrong - I’m only talking about earthly things. :) God’s still keeping me up late at night, esp. as I start writing one of the prayer devotionals, or am able to get involved with some ministry or a meeting around me… But seeing how much I’ve been blessed with the photo “bug”, how things unfolded with my current job through that, as well as now realizing that I’m easily making $150/month that I can give away just like that… It makes me think, you know. :)

While going pro still isn’t an option for me because of the money and time it requires initially, I’m seriously considering whatever the level that’s above where I am now.  To make a long story short - pray for me and give me advice. :) E-mail me, etc. I wish I could sit and talk a bit with each of you, but it just isn’t possible physically.

And that was pretty much all I wanted to say. Till later!

Our Church Celebrated 4 Years

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

This is going to be just a brief with a few to show you a bit of the celebration of the 4th anniversary of the church we are currently attending - New Life Christian Fellowship (part of Church of God, Tennessee) in Rotterdam. The anniversary was on the first Sunday of March.

Although we’ve been attending there only since November, it’s really become a home for us and we do feel a part of the church. Petra, as you probably know from previous updates or e-mails is doing the Sunday school for children once a month, and I already got to preach once there. It’s encouraging and amazing to see how God is working through a very international bunch of people to change the community, as well as the people from the church themselves. Although only 4 years of age, the church is very energetic and active. The youth night they have is a blast - and now they’ve just started the youth Alpha course which gets it even further. I’ll see if at the end of this month I feel like taking at the youth night and upload them. :)

Anyways, here’s just a bunch of . I hope you’ll enjoy seeing the people we hang out with and celebrate Christ weekly.

Heartbreaking. Unbelievable. Yet Real.

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

Dear friends,

A movie about disabled children in Bulgaria has been brought to my attention by a visitor of the Prayer for Bulgaria web-site. It is a 1:30h long documentary by a British team. The movie is in English, so you can all watch it.

It is a shocking (even for me!) movie about the reality in which Bulgaria’s disabled children and adults live and die daily. What is even more shocking and disappointing to me is the response of the Bulgarian government part of which you see at the end of the movie - a disgraceful attempt to hide the entirely obvious misery and carelessness of people in charge. More about the letter from the movie team and the Bulgarian government’s response you can find here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/documentaries/ features/bulgarias-children.shtml

The movie itself brought a great deal of burden on my heart and at the same time helped me realize once again that faith in God alone means life, trust in God alone means hope, and also that God’s love is endless. For me as a Bulgarian it is painful to also see that the Bulgarian Church (both - orthodox and evangelicals) does unnoticeably little concerning the whole situation.

I can go on and write more reflections upon the movie, but I’ll leave this part to you. My only note to you as a viewer is the following: Most people would immediately say that the problem is about money. It is NOT! As you watch - pay careful attention to the air-conditioner on the building, the somewhat nice and preserved bedding (sheets, etc), the fairly new and nice wheel-chairs, the nice toys… Love is what is missing from the picture.

Please, listen to God’s voice as you watch the movie and do pray for the whole situation. This is the least we can do.

Feel free to comment. Here is the movie:
